The Outstanding LCCian of the World Award is accorded to an LCCian whose values and achievements are founded on LOVE, COMPASSION, INTEGRITY, and TRUTH -- someone who has contributed significantly to the advancement of the society; and thereby has brought considerable reputation, prestige and honor for the academic community of La Consolacion College Bacolod.
The quiet, unassuming, and sanguine pride of LCCB High School class 1957 is the Director and Treasurer of Lourdes-C Group of Companies, which is one of the largest local business conglomerates in the city with interests on commercial deep-sea fishing, prawn farming, hotel and restaurants, real estate, and sugar farming.
She is a woman of God who constantly gives to charity without letting people know, and not trying to get any acknowledgement from doing so. As Msgr. Guillermo “Gigi” Gaston puts it during an interview, “She is a model of quiet and sanguine way of helping and living a Christian life”. She is deeply respectful of others; she concretely emanates a verse that says: “Be careful not to parade your goodness before men to attract attention. Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.”
As a friend and employer, she is regarded to as a very humble person, shy but very competent, trustworthy, efficient and full of love. Her simplicity reveals her goodness of heart to the poor as she is very passionate when it comes to charity. She is a woman with a very big heart, she illustrates mercy to the poor, and her life is deeply grounded in prayers. She is most loved by her family, friends, classmates, and members of the organizations that she belongs to. She is highly respected and regarded by employees: Tough yet Calm; Confident yet Humble, and Assertive yet Flexible. She inspires the people around her to be honest, hardworking, thorough, and most especially to pray. She rarely stays put in one place, when she does, one would marvel with admiration for she exudes glamour, grace and dignity that other women could never measure up to. She charms her way to the hearts of the many and is considered a blessing and an inspiration.
Every occasion like anniversaries, birthdays, and any event in the company always starts with a mass. The Diocese of Bacolod is fortunate that a good businesswoman, a devout & generous catholic, caring sister, and a doting mother continues to share, and is continually a blessing, to the people and to the community.
She charms her way into the hearts of the people around her through her persuasive abilities and unassuming ways. She makes one simple request and says a hundred thank you.
Her life revolves around her family, work, and charity. Ms. Erlinda Osmena of class ’57 shared that, “Among our classmates, she’s the one who has a very big heart. The compassion is always there-- No questions asked. She’s a very beautiful person in and out. We have her as a model. In our class, many are qualified but there was one thing that I was looking for in a person to be a model of all LCCian. I was looking for somebody who has a good heart, somebody who lives the principle of being a true blooded LCCian. The values that are being taught by the sisters, she carried it all… and I know that it’s not just now, not just for the years before… but she will forever be our dearest Delia.”
In actuality, one’s notable and noteworthy attainments do not end on the draped diplomas and certificates achieved throughout the years, the realizations of one’s potentials and capabilities are grounded on the force of service entailed in the Christian community through a genuine sense of service that matters.
