Press Release: LCCians make consecutive wins in tourism competitions
Bachelor of Science in Tourism students from La Consolacion College Bacolod made back-to-back wins during the Tourism Week competitions sponsored by the Bacolod City government and the Provincial government of Negros Occidental recently.
Darwin Belleza, Karyn Ysa Amparado, and Valerie Palma succeeded as Champions in this year’s Brochure-Making competition organized by the City Tourism Office in celebration of the Tourism Week last September 8-10, 2014.
According to Belleza, their brochure bested the other contestants because they were the only ones who employed the cartoon map concept that deviates from the traditional rendition of the city map. The ‘Easy Tip’, a translation box of basic words in the local dialect that tourists will use while in the city of smile, also buttered up their design.
The winning brochure will be used as the official brochure in promoting Bacolod. The students’ concept of featuring attractions, accommodations, and delicacies that distinctively promote Bacolod City were the strengths of their entry, according to Belleza.
Rizelle Alburo, who represented the school in the Tour Guiding category, reaped the 3rd place slot last September 9, 2014.
Meanwhile, Kisha Lahra Odtohan outshined nine other contenders during the Provincial Tourism Week Tour Guiding Competition last September 17, 2014 at Silay City Civic Center. She was proclaimed champion after she impressively promoted the attractions found in the city of Talisay. The contestants were assigned destinations to promote 5 minutes before their performance on stage. From among the attractions in a given destination, they were given three pictures of sights and attractions to advocate only once they were on the stage.
Odtohan was given Campuestohan Highland Resort, Balay ni Tana Dicang, and the Minuluan Festival of Talisay city. “The complete information that I gave, and the manner of how I managed to deliver it in a spot-on sequence may have abetted this triumph, said Odtohan.
Ms. Sheryl Pacheco, The Program Head of the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management Area acted as their thorough coach throughout the competition. La Consolacion College bears recognition and pride in the esteemed success of these victors.
