The LCCB School of Sciences, Liberal Arts, and Teacher Education (SSLATE), spearheaded the culminating activity of its AB English Language Studies IV Student-Interns on May 20, 2024, at the Public Information Office, Bacolod City Government Center, to express their utmost revere and gratitude to the workplace in reinforcing the school’s devotion to providing quality education, holistic development, and meaningful experiences.
In a 360-hour journey, the Bacolod
City Public Information Office (BCD PIO), became the intern’s academy wherein they are introduced to various disciplines of knowledge such as journalism, event management or production, mass communication, and public service. Ms. Christine Hope Delotavo was entrusted with crafting news articles and press releases for PIO’s
“Butlak”, the official newsletter magazine of the Bacolod City Government Center. Mr. Mikhail Ivan Muchuelas was assigned to manage PIO’s official facebook page through creation of publication materials and artcards that contained vital information or upcoming events for the general public to be informed. Mr. Neil Raphael Malanday became the offices’ correspondent, taking in hosting roles, field work, and other broadcasting activities aimed at providing useful instruction and entertainment alongside the senior writers and photographers of the office.
The interns were accompanied by Ms. Charita Desquitado, th
practicum adviser, and Dr. Penny V. Sanchez, the Dean of SSLATE. Dr. Sanchez expressed her heartfelt felicitations to the AB ELS IV students for showcasing a commendable job performance inside the office. She extolled the interns for embodying a true LCCian spirit in accordance with the school’s 7 Institutional Graduate Attributes (IGA). In addition, she was thankful to Ms. Carmela A. Gamboa, the Department Head of the Bacolod City Public Information Office, and also an alumna of LCCB, for providing an avenue for the students to exhibit and develop their respective skills and talents. Ms. Desquitado, the practicum adviser, reverberated the same sentiments of Dean Sanchez, stating that it is without a doubt that the three interns would flourish inside the workplace for since during their freshmen years they were reflected to have potentials that will equip them to become effective and competent professionals in the 21st century.
Following the exchange of words
and small get togethers, the group proffered their small tokens of appreciation dedicated to the office and its employees for their diligence in fostering a safe, healthy, and progressive workplace not just for the interns, but also for the City of Bacolod. The event concluded with the distribution of the certificates of completion of the interns and a photo opportunity together with the interns’ practicum adviser, department dean, the PIO department head, the liaison and receiving officer, the technical officers, the Butlak consultant, the senior writers, and the Quick Response Team (QRT) representative.
