In celebration of the Month of the Holy Rosary, the La Consolacion College Bacolod community convened in prayer for our brothers and sisters who were deeply affected by Typhoon Kristine and Leon last October 30, 2024, at the Centennial Quadrangle.
The program commenced with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the Entrance of the image of Our Lady of Fatima carried by the General Maintenance staff of the institution. Following this, the ASOLC Community Coordinator and Consultant of the Academic Affairs Office, Sr. Editha S. Zerna, OSA, delivered her welcoming address.
In her message, she profoundly acknowledged the presence of everyone who participated in the event. In addition, she stated what an amazing woman and a heavenly mother Fatima is and encouraged the faculty and students to pray the Holy Rosary not just every October, but every day.
Sr. Zerna then recalled the appearance of Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal and how she appeared to the three shepherd children, Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta who at the time were tending to their livestock when they had the vision of a woman surrounded by light and identified herself as the Lady of the Holy Rosary.
“When praying the Holy Rosary, you should pray with Devotion,” Zerna added. For it allows us to encounter Mary and explore the complex life of Jesus Christ. It creates an avenue that highlights connectedness with our religion. Praying the Holy Rosary relieves anxiety, stress, and difficult situations. Sr. Editha concluded her message by including the victims of Typhoon Kristine and Leon who are undergoing suffering, hunger, and pain.
After her remarks, students from the Integrated Basic Education Department formed human rosary beads, signifying the start of the Holy Rosary. Students and members of the faculty from the IBED, SARFAID, SBIT, SHTM, and SSLATE departments all take turns leading the prayer and handing their respective offerings.
Succeeding the five mysteries, the Crowning of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary was spearheaded by Sr. Ma. Gerolinda C. Tingson, OSA and Dr. Rodjhun B. Navarro. The Imposition of the Holy Rosary was led by Sr. Nora M. Bariñan together with Atty. Benilda Tejada. The imposition of the Lei was accomplished by Sr. Nguyen Thanh Hien, OSA alongside Dr. Penny V. Sanchez.
The grade 4 pupils placed the Ave Maria signage while the Friends of Mother Consuelo handed their floral offerings to the image of Our Lady of Fatima. The Youth Marian Crusade performed an interpretative dance of the song A Million Roses of Prayer. The Head of the Physical Plant and General Services, Sr. Jonilyn Florentino, OSA, spearheaded the Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Then, the Vice President for Finance and General Services and also the IBED Principal, Sr. Irene Bancolo, OSA, gave her closing remarks. Sr. Irene wished and hoped to everyone that the Grace and Love of our Blessed Mother be with us while urging everyone to spread Guidance and Compassion in every encounter they make. The Institutional Living Rosary ended with a community song of Let There Be Peace.
