The LCCB Chorale and Chorus, under the leadership of Prof. Alexander Magno Romero, delivered an exceptional production of the rendition of the Philippine National Anthem during the 126th Cinco de Noviembre Celebration, Ceremonial Signing of the Deed of Donation, and Project Kickoff of the Restoration of the Gen. Aniceto L. Lacson Ancestral House last November 05, 2024, Talisay City.
His leadership during the Cinco de Noviembre rebellion on November 5, 1898, is what most people remember about Lacson. He coordinated with fellow revolutionary Juan Araneta to lead the Negros rebels in a bloodless uprising against Spanish colonial rule on that day. The revolutionaries gave the appearance of a fully armed rebellion by intimidating the Spanish army with nipa palm cannons and expertly made bamboo guns. The revolutionaries were able to set up a temporary independent government in Negros when their ploy was successful and the Spanish army capitulated. Every year, on Cinco de Noviembre, the day Negros Occidental was freed from Spanish domination, this triumph is commemorated.
The memory of General Aniceto Lacson endures as a testament to the tenacity and resourcefulness of the Filipino people. In Talisay City, Negros Occidental, his ancestral home is still a historical landmark and the site of celebrations like the Cinco de Noviembre, which honor his contributions to regional pride and Philippine independence.
The choirโs delivery of the national anthem adds a tone that symbolizes nationalism and commemorates Lacsonโs indelible efforts that led to the freedom of the Negros Island from the reign of the Spanish government which is filled with greed, violence, and corruption.
