BACOLOD CITY – La Consolacion College Bacolod took the lead in strengthening the Informal Waste Sector Association of Bacolod City by facilitating a capacity-building workshop on January 30, 2025, at the Felisa Government Center.
The workshop, organized by LCC Bacolod’s Research, Innovations, and Linkages Office, focused on revisiting the association’s Vision and Mission, reviewing their Constitution and By-Laws, and identifying training needs to enhance their governance and participation in Bacolod’s modernized solid waste management system. Through interactive discussions, the officers developed concrete strategies for membership engagement, income-generating projects, and organizational sustainability.
This initiative aligns with LCC Bacolod’s commitment to social inclusion and environmental stewardship, ensuring that the informal waste sector is recognized as a key stakeholder in urban sustainability efforts. The workshop was supported by GIZ Germany, the University of Kassel, the Bacolod City Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO), and the Barangay Government of Felisa, demonstrating a strong collaboration for sustainable development.
LCC Bacolod continues to champion community engagement and environmental advocacy by equipping the informal waste sector officers with the necessary skills and knowledge, paving the way for a greener and more inclusive Bacolod City.
