LCC Bacolod, Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar Formalize Partnership

Sept. 23, 2025 — La Consolacion College Bacolod and Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar (UNMAS Denpasar) strengthened their academic and research ties Tuesday with the signing of a memorandum of understanding at the AVES Conference Room.

The agreement was signed by Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, president of LCC Bacolod, and Dr. Anik Yuesti, head of the Women and Planning Area Study at the UNMAS Research Center, on behalf of university rector Dr. I Made Sukamertha.

In her welcome address, Sr. Catungal emphasized the significance of the partnership. “This MoU is not just a document but a bridge that connects our institutions in the spirit of collaboration and shared vision for education and research,” she said.

The event gathered administrators and faculty members from LCC Bacolod. Graduate School Dean Dr. Baniline Abantao-Portal introduced the witnesses to the signing: Dr. Romela R. Aujero, vice president for administration and academic affairs; Dr. Vincent Raymund Alovera, dean of the School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Interior Design and program head of the Master of Science in Architecture; Dr. Penny V. Sanchez, associate dean of academic affairs and program head of the Master of Arts in Education major in Math and Science; Dr. Christian Angelo Iturriaga, dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management; Dr. Edna D. Fregil, program head of the Master of Arts in Education major in Filipino; Graduate School faculty member Dr. Carmen C. Menes; and Rejay Y. Alvarado, head of research.

Dr. Rodjhun B. Navarro, vice president for research, innovation, and linkages and program head of several graduate programs, delivered the statement of partnership, underscoring the institutions’ shared commitment to advancing academic excellence, cross-cultural exchange, and collaborative research.

The MoU builds on years of cooperation between the two institutions, particularly through the International Conference on Multidisciplinary Research.
