La Consolacion College Bacolod and Barangay Sum-ag have formalized a partnership aimed at strengthening community capacity building, sustainability initiatives, and environmental stewardship through a Memorandum of Agreement signed at the college campus.
The agreement, signed by Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, President of La Consolacion College Bacolod, and Barangay Captain Rodney C. Carmona, outlines a three-year collaboration to enhance organizational capacity, academic engagement, and sustainable livelihood initiatives.

“Our goal is to help empower the local community through education, training, and collaborative programs that reflect our shared commitment to stewardship and sustainable development,” Sr. Catungal said.
Under the agreement, LCCB’s Graduate School will provide training and capacity-building activities for Barangay Sum-ag on waste segregation, recycling, upcycling, sustainability practices, gender and development, and mental well-being. The partnership also includes leadership development, organizational policy formulation, and livelihood training focused on producing sustainable, green, and eco-friendly products and services.
Barangay Sum-ag, in turn, will provide logistical support, venues for activities, and ensure full participation of community members. The barangay will also process necessary legal and accreditation documents, participate in program evaluations, and host joint outreach initiatives with the college.
“This partnership allows us to strengthen our community programs and ensure that our residents are equipped with the right knowledge and skills to pursue sustainable livelihoods,” Carmona said.
The Memorandum of Agreement will be effective for three years and may be renewed upon mutual agreement. Costs of implementation will be jointly borne by both parties based on an agreed budget plan.
