LCC Bacolod Culminates Rosary Month with Living Rosary for Peace and Unity

La Consolacion College Bacolod culminated the Month of the Holy Rosary with a solemn Living Rosary on October 30 at the quadrangle, gathering students, faculty members, staff, administrators, alumni, and parents in a community-wide act of prayer and devotion.

The event opened with a welcome address from Ms. Maria Girlie Abad, who reminded participants that “the rosary is deeply embedded in the academic experience at LCC Bacolod,” emphasizing that a community that loves the Holy Rosary is a compassionate community.

The Living Rosary was dedicated to peace and unity, with prayers offered for love and understanding to reign within families, communities, and nations.

In his reflection, Fr. Narciso Gregori Gayares VII spoke about the history and power of the Holy Rosary, recalling the Christian victory in the Battle of Lepanto in 1571, which Pope Pius V attributed to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Following this event, Pope Clement XI declared that the Feast of the Holy Rosary be celebrated every first Sunday of October.

Fr. Gayares also highlighted the significance of the rosary in Philippine history, particularly its role in the country’s devotion to Our Lady of Manaoag, who is believed to have interceded in times of war and hardship. “The Holy Rosary is very powerful and effective,” he said, urging the faithful to “pray the rosary together with Mary.”

The celebration coincided with the culmination of the United Nations Month, symbolizing unity among peoples and nations through prayer and faith.

In her message, Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, LCC Bacolod President, reflected on the Augustinian spirit of love, quoting St. Augustine: “Where there is love, there is peace.” She added, “As we pray the rosary, we are reminded that love must move us toward compassion and peace — not only within our school but in the world that needs hope and healing.”

The event concluded with the singing of Let There Be Peace on Earth as the community renewed its devotion to Our Lady of Consolation, embracing the call to live out faith, peace, and unity in daily life.
