LCC Bacolod IBED Students Showcase Creativity in UN Month T-Shirt Painting Contest

As part of the Integrated Basic Education Department’s (IBED) United Nations Month celebration themed “Cultures in Harmony,” students of La Consolacion College Bacolod poured their creativity and teamwork into the annual T-Shirt Painting Contest held Thursday at the campus.

Sponsored by the Social Studies Area and the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Strand, the contest challenged participants to translate the spirit of unity and cultural diversity into wearable art using either acrylic or enamel paint.

The daylong event, which lasted eight hours, gathered 38 teams across three divisions — six groups from Grades 4 to 6, 17 from Grades 7 to 10, and 15 from Grades 11 and 12 — with each team composed of three members. Students worked collaboratively, turning plain shirts into colorful expressions of peace, respect, and cross-cultural friendship.

Judges evaluated the artworks based on creativity, craftsmanship, relevance to the theme, and overall impact. Many entries featured designs highlighting world landmarks, traditional patterns, and symbols of unity.

Ms. Chennie Capitle, Chairperson of the United Nations Month celebration, praised the participants’ dedication and artistry. “The T-shirt painting contest is more than just an art activity — it’s a reflection of how our students see the beauty in diversity and the importance of harmony among cultures,” she said.

The contest culminated in an exhibit of the finished works, where teachers and students viewed the vibrant collection of designs that embodied LCC Bacolod’s commitment to nurturing creativity, cultural awareness, and global understanding.
