LCC Bacolod Lights Christmas Tree, Opens Season of Hope and Solidarity

La Consolacion College Bacolod formally ushered in the Christmas season with the ceremonial lighting of its Christmas tree at the Quadrangle on Thursday evening, an annual tradition marked by prayer, music, and community togetherness.

This year’s Christmas tree, designed and prepared by the staff of the Finance Office, stood as the centerpiece of the celebration. The event opened with a para-liturgy facilitated by the Center for Integral Formation, followed by a solemn blessing of the tree led by Fr. Narciso Gregori Gayares VII.

Dr. Romela R. Aujero, VP for Administration & Academic Affairs, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the meaning of the gathering. “Tonight reminds us that even in challenging times, we come together as one LCCian community to bring light, hope, and compassion to one another,” she said.

The LCC Chorale filled the Quadrangle with classic Christmas carols as candles were lit in sequence—from faculty members to students—symbolizing the passing on of faith, unity, and shared mission.

LCCB President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, sent a message of gratitude and encouragement to the community. “May this light guide us through the season with renewed joy, deep faith, and a spirit of service. Let us continue to be bearers of hope to everyone we encounter,” she said.

The ceremony concluded with a collective prayer for peace and a meaningful Advent season for all LCCians.
