La Consolacion College Bacolod’s The Ripples publication earned two distinctions at the 49th College Press Conference (COPRE), emerging among the top winners from more than 800 delegates representing over 70 institutions across the Visayas. The event was held in Iloilo City and organized by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).
The campus publication secured a major award after placing 3rd in Best Magazine Layout, while staffer Frances Clare Vallejera earned 2nd Place in Feature Writing (Filipino). COPRE recognizes only the top three winners per category, making the awards highly competitive and sought after.

“We are immensely proud of our student journalists,” said Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, President of La Consolacion College Bacolod. “Their achievements reflect the creativity, resilience, and excellence that LCCians bring to every endeavor. We honor their hard work and look forward to seeing them grow even more.”
The Ripples staff shared that their primary goal this year was to secure a major award—particularly Best Magazine. While they narrowly missed the top category, earning Best Magazine Layout has encouraged them to aim even higher for next year’s COPRE, especially in individual writing categories.
LCC Bacolod’s COPRE 2025 delegates included:
Pauline Rose Jallorina (Editor-in-Chief) – Feature Writing (English), Editorial Writing (English)
Cristine Eduardo (Associate Editor) – Feature Writing (English), Editorial Writing (English)
Nethalie Parreño (Feature Editor) – Feature Writing (English), Editorial Writing (English)
Mikylla Fernandez (Managing Editor) – Feature Writing (English), Sports Writing (English)
Wayne Aldrich Arienda (Creative Director) – Editorial Cartooning (Filipino)
Oliver Escanier (Senior Cartoonist) – Editorial Cartooning (English)
Kasper Grey Lanza (Senior Photojournalist) – Photojournalism (English)
The delegation was supervised by publication adviser Krizha P. Valeriano.
Carrying momentum from this year’s win, The Ripples aims to return stronger, more polished, and even more determined at next year’s COPRE, continuing LCC Bacolod’s tradition of excellence in campus journalism.
