LCC Bacolod Faculty Join Environment Sector in Bacolod Development Planning Workshop

La Consolacion College Bacolod took part in the Local Development Investment Programming (LDIP) Workshop, contributing specifically to discussions under the environment sector as Bacolod City advances climate-responsive and sustainable urban planning.

The two-day workshop, held Jan. 22–23 at Sugarland Hotel, was organized under the Integrated Urban Climate Action for Low-Carbon and Resilient Cities (Urban-Act) initiative led in the Philippines by Clean Air Asia. The activity supported the updating of Bacolod City’s Comprehensive Development Plan and Local Development Investment Program, with an emphasis on evidence-based and climate-sensitive planning.

Representing La Consolacion College Bacolod were Dr. Rodjhun B. Navarro, vice president for research, innovation and linkages, and Dr. Vincent Raymund Alovera, dean of the School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Interior Design. Both joined the core members of the environmental sector in reviewing and prioritizing programs, projects and activities aligned with low-carbon development, urban resilience and environmental sustainability.

During the workshop, sectoral groups examined planning matrices and project briefs, assessed environmental risks and vulnerabilities, and ranked priority interventions using urgency and goal-achievement tools. The outputs are expected to feed into the city’s medium-term investment programming and financing plans.

The LDIP workshop forms part of Bacolod City’s broader effort to integrate climate action into local governance, ensuring that environmental programs are strategically planned, properly costed and ready for implementation within the city’s development framework.
