La Consolacion College Bacolod formally inaugurated the A. G. Barcelona Center for Advanced Studies on Feb. 6, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the College’s efforts to strengthen industry-responsive education, micro-credentialing, and community-based research.

The inauguration was held at College Building, Room 211, which has been renovated into a modern, flexible learning and conference facility. The program opened with a prayer and blessing led by Rev. Fr. Ian Kasilag, OSA, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the unveiling of the center’s marker.

Navarro, Vice President for Research, Innovations, and Linkages, presented the rationale of the Center, emphasizing its function as a platform for micro-credentialing, applied research, and collaboration among academe, industry, and government.

Messages of support were delivered by Dr. Ramon Ponce de Leon, Chair of the LCC Bacolod Board of Trustees, and Mr. Alfredo G. Barcelona, Chairman of the Bacolod Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., whose generosity made the establishment of the Center possible.

LCC Bacolod President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, formally declared the Center inaugurated, underscoring its long-term significance to the institution and the wider community. “The A. G. Barcelona Center for Advanced Studies is more than a physical space. It is our commitment to learning that is relevant, partnerships that are meaningful, and education that directly serves industry and community needs,” she said.

The program concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Romela R. Aujero, Vice President for Administration and Academic Affairs, followed by a photo opportunity and fellowship lunch. The A. G. Barcelona Center for Advanced Studies is envisioned to host short-term training programs, micro-credentialing courses, and stakeholder engagements aligned with emerging industry and workforce demands.
