The student film “Across the Heart” emerged as the Best Short Film during the Le Consolite Film Awards held March 13 at the Sugarland Hotel Grand Ballroom, recognizing outstanding productions from the Integrated School’s annual Grade 10 Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) culminating project.
The awards night celebrated the creativity and storytelling of Grade 10 students who produced short films inspired by the lives and values of Augustinian saints, blesseds and venerables. The films were first screened in an open-air cinema setup at the La Consolacion College Bacolod quadrangle on March 7 as part of the Le Consolite Film Fest.

“Across the Heart” stood out among five nominees for the top honor, which also included Pagtalima, Malyari, Veil of Devotion, and From the Bees to the Roses. In addition to winning Best Short Film, the production also received multiple awards, including Best Director for Andrea Reyes, Best Cast Ensemble, Best Editing, and Best Production Design, with cast members Chelsea Sabelle Garde and Michaella Pauleen Tiongson sharing the Best Supporting Actress award.
Other notable winners included Lingap, which earned Best Production and Value-Laden Film, while From the Bees to the Roses received several audience-driven recognitions including Highest Grossing Film, People’s Choice Award, Best Movie Poster, and Best Movie Teaser.
Individual acting honors were also presented. Richard Herbito won Best Actor for To Heal a Heart, while Johanna Mikaela Miranda received Best Actress for her role in Malyari.
Sr. Irene M. Bancolo, OSA, Integrated School principal, praised the students for transforming their learning into meaningful creative expression.
“The Le Consolite Film Fest demonstrates how our students can use their talents in storytelling and media to reflect the values of compassion, service and faith rooted in the Augustinian tradition,” Bancolo said.
Mr. Ernie Mallorca, TLE subject area chair, said the project allows students to apply technical and collaborative skills while exploring deeper themes of spirituality and human experience.
“Through this culminating project, our students learn that filmmaking is not only about technical production but also about telling stories that inspire reflection and convey values that matter,” Mallorca said.
The Le Consolite Film Fest is the Integrated School’s annual Grade 10 TLE project designed to develop students’ competencies in media production, creativity and teamwork while celebrating the Augustinian heritage of La Consolacion College Bacolod.
