LCC BACOLOD STRENGTHENS RESEARCH PRESENCE AT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN BAGUIO

La Consolacion College Bacolod strengthened its research presence through the presentation of two institutional studies at the 1st Research Conference on Scholarly Linkages for Universal and Sustainable Education held June 26-27, 2026, at Saint Louis University.

The conference, anchored on the theme “Innovate, Integrate, Inspire: Driving Sustainable and Quality Education through the SDGs,” gathered researchers, educators and administrators from higher education institutions in the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand. It served as a venue for scholarly exchange and collaboration in advancing research initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Representing LCC Bacolod were Mr. Rejay Y. Alvarado and Mr. Felix Adrian D. Dalida, who presented studies addressing institutional development, employee well-being and environmental sustainability.

Alvarado presented “Job Demands, Job Resources, and Employee Satisfaction among Employees of La Consolacion College Bacolod,” a study that examined how workplace demands and institutional resources relate to employee satisfaction in a private higher education institution.

Using a quantitative descriptive-correlational-predictive design, the study gathered data from 121 personnel and analyzed the levels of job demands, job resources and employee satisfaction. It also examined relationships among the variables and identified predictors of employee satisfaction.

The study found that employees experienced high levels of job demands, job resources and employee satisfaction. While job demands were not significantly related to employee satisfaction, job resources showed a strong positive relationship and emerged as the strongest predictor of satisfaction.

The findings underscored the importance of organizational support, professional development opportunities, effective communication and positive workplace relationships in sustaining employee satisfaction. The study also highlighted the need for higher education institutions to strengthen employee support systems as part of promoting well-being, organizational sustainability and quality education.

Dalida presented “Mapping Solid Waste Footprints: Waste Characterization and Brand Audit of Marine Litter at the River Mouth of Bacolod City, Philippines,” a study that generated baseline data on marine litter collected in Barangay Singcang Airport, Bacolod City.

The study quantified and characterized waste from river outflow and coastal inflow sources and identified producer-linked packaging through brand auditing. Its findings support evidence-based strategies for marine litter management, packaging recovery initiatives and the implementation of the Extended Producer Responsibility Act of 2022.

LCC Bacolod’s participation in the international conference affirmed the institution’s commitment to strengthening research culture, expanding scholarly linkages and producing studies that respond to institutional, community and sustainability concerns.
