A Sacred Journey
By Rogien Nicole Abadiano
Nestled in the quiet solitude of nature, away from the clamor of everyday life, the LCCB college faculty and administrators, joined by the Non-teaching and Academic Non-teaching personnel, embarked on a spiritual journey in a 2-day retreat, last July 10-11, 2025 at Don Bosco Retreat House.

Graced by the company of Fr. Willy Capellan, OSA, as retreat master, as well as the quiet and reassuring presence of the school president, Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, the spiritual retreat offered a unique opportunity to explore profound, transformative encounters with God, while living the time-honored principles of St. Augustine. Rooted in these teachings, the retreat is not just an escape—it’s a deliberate immersion into silence, prayer and awareness.
One of the central components of the retreat is the rhythm of silence, prayer and community. Anchored in the Rule of Saint Augustine, the retreat incorporates both personal and communal elements. The silence is not oppressive, but rather a freeing space where one’s thoughts can flow like a river, uninterrupted and yet still with mindfulness.
At the heart of it all, the retreat is about transformation, and as Fr. Willy emphasized, it’s a Metanoia —a turning of the heart toward God and a reorientation of one’s life. For many, it’s an opportunity to step away from the grind and distractions of the world and reflect on the direction of their spiritual life. It is a time for honest self-examination, to face the deep questions of the soul, and to renew one’s commitment to following Christ, and be the bearers of His love, not only in LCCB but anywhere the spirit leads.
