ARFIEN Joins “Patrons of the Arts: Bacolod Summer” in Grand Celebration of Creativity and Culture”

June 7–8, 2025 | La Consolacion College Bacolod’s School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Interior Design (ARFIEN) took center stage at this year’s “Patrons of the Arts: Bacolod Summer” held at SMX Convention Center, SM City Bacolod. This two-day creative extravaganza brought together over 150 artists and drew thousands of attendees, offering a vibrant showcase of Filipino artistry, innovation, and community spirit.

The event, which has earned its reputation as one of the most dynamic art marketplaces in the Philippines, served as a platform for LCC Bacolod’s Fine Arts majors to immerse themselves in a professional arts setting—engaging directly with patrons, fellow artists, and enthusiasts. Each of ARFIEN’s student-led clubs presented distinctive artistic expressions and interactive experiences that highlighted the diversity and strength of the college’s creative programs.

Among the participating groups:

Artists’ Forum celebrated the LCC Bacolod identity through an exhibit that placed the school’s creative legacy in conversation with commercial art. Students also collaborated with the ARFIEN department in art selling.

Advertising Corps set up an immersive photobooth experience while also selling original artworks—bridging promotional creativity with aesthetic commerce.

Kostumbre, the fashion-forward collective, held a mini-exhibit and sold handcrafted wearable art, merging visual expression with textile narratives.

Ctrl+Z Guild curated a compelling Fine Arts exhibit featuring selected works of its members, many of whom also participated as art sellers, showcasing the depth of visual talent from the college.

Artteasans Podcast not only sold art but also hosted casual, insightful interviews over tea with local creatives in collaboration with Tea2Go, blending media, storytelling, and visual culture.

Reflecting on the importance of the college’s participation, Mr. June Al Flores, Fine Arts Instructor and adviser, shared:

“Patrons of the Arts: Bacolod Summer represents a pivotal moment for our Bachelor of Fine Arts program and for La Consolacion College as a whole. We have a platform for our students to connect directly with the community and share the unique strengths of each Fine Arts Major. This event signifies our commitment not only to nurturing artistic excellence and innovation but also to providing our students with unparalleled opportunities for growth. We believe in our students’ potential, and events like this are crucial for building their confidence, showcasing their talents, and preparing them for careers in the arts.”

“It reinforces that our students are not just learning; they are actively shaping the future of art in Bacolod, demonstrating what Fine Arts education truly offers.”

Held under the theme of empowering Filipino artists, “Patrons of the Arts: Bacolod Summer” offered an expansive venue for collaboration, expression, and enterprise—with workshops, games, panels, and live interactions complementing the art market. It wasn’t just about buying and selling—it was about connection, creative identity, and cultivating a culture where art thrives.

Through this event, LCC Bacolod’s ARFIEN did more than represent their institution—they redefined the role of the student-artist in community life and proved once again that Bacolod is indeed the “City of Smiles”—and creativity.
