“This year, our main goal is to bring together as many alumni as possible for a day’s celebration,” said Atty. Tejada. “We are making this year extra special by creating a joyful, festive, and welcoming ambiance as soon as the alumni arrive.” To achieve this, the help of the ARFIEN has been enlisted to create celebratory decorations in the lobby. Additionally, drum beaters from either La Carlota or the Murcia LCC drum beaters will fill the air with a festive mood.

Another significant goal for this year’s homecoming is to involve the college level and alumni groups in the activities and cultural show. Atty. Tejada emphasized the importance of showcasing the Night High School scholars, who will be presented and involved in the activities and cultural show. “We want to highlight our pet project from last year by involving our Night High School scholars in this special event,” she explained.

Recognizing the importance of this milestone year, the alumni association has expanded the nominations for the Outstanding Alumni Award. “We have opened the nominations to include not only the Jubilarians but all classes,” said Atty. Tejada. This inclusive approach aims to recognize and celebrate the achievements of a broader group of alumni.

Atty. Tejada also unveiled several new initiatives aimed at strengthening the alumni association and enhancing its engagement with graduates. These include creating a structure to fully integrate graduates from various programs, advocating for the inclusion of Grade 10 or high school graduates, and issuing non-renewable Alumni IDs that offer potential discounts from local businesses and professionals.
“We want to create a framework where all graduates, not just high school alumni, can be fully integrated into the association,” Atty. Tejada explained. “We also plan to issue an Alumni ID that will provide discounts for food, goods, and services, making it a valuable benefit for our members.”

Reflecting on the history of the alumni association, Atty. Tejada highlighted its longstanding role in supporting the college’s growth and development. “The Alumni Association, initiated by Sor Evangelista de San Agustin in 1949, has always been a vital partner in the school’s development,” she said. From raising funds for construction projects to encouraging direct contributions from alumni, the association has continuously supported LCC Bacolod.

When asked about memorable experiences from past homecomings, Atty. Tejada fondly recalled the intimate gatherings in the Auditorium. “The closeness and personal interactions among alumni were profound. Everyone was engaged and there was a meaningful exchange of opinions and ideas,” she reminisced. She also expressed her admiration for the Virtual Alumni Homecoming held during her administration. “Despite the circumstances, the event brought together alumni, showcasing their love, care, and loyalty to the school,” she said.

To foster a sense of unity and continuity within the LCC Bacolod community, efforts are being made to incorporate current students and faculty into the homecoming events. “We are starting to build a database of College graduates and grouping participants by department rather than class year,” Atty. Tejada explained. “This year, the College group participating in the cultural show comprises students from different years. However, we acknowledge the need to find a structure that better integrates them into the association.”

Atty. Tejada concluded the interview with a heartfelt message to all alumni. “Unity among alumni is crucial, despite the challenges of distance and personal circumstances. I hope this call for unity extends beyond the alumni homecomings and continues throughout the year,” she said. She encouraged alumni to hold reunions, mini-reunions, and group activities regularly to keep the LCCian spirit alive.
“Graduation does not mark the end of being an LCCian or supporting the school,” Atty. Tejada emphasized. “Going back to our roots and actively helping the school maintain its integrity, existence, and growth should be a shared goal. The school administration should also foster trust and respect with the alumni to inspire their continued support.” As the 75th Alumni Homecoming of La Consolacion College Bacolod approaches, the plans set forth by Atty. Benilda A. Tejada promise to make it a memorable and unifying event for all alumni.
