Though the dust may have settled from the long bus rides and ocean breezes, the learning from Behold Bohol, the third educational tour of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management of La Consolacion College Bacolod, continues to ripple through the student experience.
Held over four immersive days, the tour gathered 115 students from the Tourism, Hospitality Management, and Culinary Arts programs for an in-depth look at the realities of the industry they are preparing to join. The initiative is part of SHTM’s Enhanced Skill and Industry Exposure Development Initiative, which emphasizes applied learning beyond the classroom.

“This is the kind of learning we believe in — one that is grounded, lived, and experienced,” said Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, President of La Consolacion College Bacolod. “Our students should not just study hospitality and tourism, but live it, breathe it, and lead it. Behold Bohol is a shining example of our commitment to this vision.”
The tour’s highlights included a heritage tour guiding activity, with students leading interpretive tours at key cultural landmarks such as the Baclayon Church, Tarsier Sanctuary, and Bohol Cultural Village. It also featured a seminar on resort operations and a resort familiarization tour at The Bellevue Resort Bohol, an internationally recognized 5-star eco-resort known for its sustainable practices.
More than just a sightseeing trip, this was a student-led initiative — a capstone experience under the Tour and Travel Management course of the BS Tourism Management program. Under the guidance of faculty mentors, students took charge of the entire planning and coordination process — from logistics and budgeting to on-the-ground execution.
The tour also brought students to the National Museum of the Philippines – Bohol, the Loboc River floating restaurant and river cruise, and several community-based cultural immersion activities that bridged theoretical understanding with local realities.
Through transformative experiences like this, LCC Bacolod’s SHTM lives out its mission to produce graduates who are not only academically prepared but industry-ready — confident, competent, and equipped to thrive in the evolving fields of tourism, hospitality, and culinary arts.
Because at LCC Bacolod, learning doesn’t just happen in classrooms — it happens in conversations, in communities, and sometimes, in the heart of Bohol.
