Ensuring Excellence: PRC’s Successful Monitoring of LCC Bacolod’s BS Interior Design Program

La Consolacion College Bacolod received commendations from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) following a successful monitoring of its Bachelor of Science in Interior Design (BSID) program. The assessment, conducted on January 29, 2024, at the Aves Conference Room, garnered praise for LCCB’s proactive measures in enhancing its academic offerings and institutional standards.

Led by members of the monitoring team, including Hon. Maria Carlota D. Hilvano and Hon. Vincent Louie V. Tan from the Professional Regulatory Board for Interior Design, the evaluation highlighted LCCB’s commitment to excellence in interior design education.

Among the key LCCB administrators present during the monitoring were Sr. Joan BC S. Infante, OSA, School President; Ar. Vincent Raymund Y. Alovera, PhD, Dean of LCCB School of Architecture, Fine Arts & Interior Design; and IDr. Rachel Jutare, Program Head of BSID, alongside other administrators.

The comprehensive review yielded no deficiencies, non-compliances, or violations, reflecting LCCB’s adherence to regulatory standards. Moreover, the monitoring team commended the institution for its proactive approach in addressing concerns raised during the previous visit in 2023.

Initiatives lauded by the PRC Board included a well-organized presentation, the appointment of a dedicated BSID program head, expansion of faculty members, enhancement of library resources, intensified promotion of BSID activities, and strategic student recruitment efforts.

Additionally, the incorporation of Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with students was praised for facilitating constructive feedback to enhance curricular and institutional offerings. The PRC Board emphasized the importance of fostering collaborative activities, such as faculty and student exchanges with other institutions, both locally and internationally, as well as establishing linkages with industry partners to facilitate practical applications of academic research, notably through “thesis to product” initiatives.

Furthermore, the integration of service learning within the BSID curriculum was endorsed as a means to instill LCCB’s core values among students while contributing to community development.

The success of LCCB’s BSID program was further underscored by the outstanding performance of its graduates, exemplified by Lois Bernardino’s achievement as a Top 4 in the previous Interior Design Licensure Examination administered by the PRC.

In conclusion, the PRC Board for Interior Design Inspection and Monitoring affirmed LCCB’s compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, recognizing the institution’s dedication to fostering excellence in interior design education./AV #lccbSARFAID #lccbInteriorDesign #LCCBCommunityofFriends #BuildingDreamsTogetherwithLCCB
