Fine Arts Alumnus Wins 2026 Ani ng Dangal Award

A Fine Arts alumnus of La Consolacion College Bacolod has been named a recipient of the 2026 Ani ng Dangal Award by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), recognizing his international achievement in design.

Chad Gabrielle Tanutan, winner of the Top Designer Award in the Men’s Shoe Individual Category at the 13th International Footwear Design Competition, will be honored during the Ani ng Dangal (“Harvest of Honors”) awarding ceremony on Feb. 27 at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila.

The Ani ng Dangal Award is conferred annually by the NCCA to Filipino artists who bring honor to the country by winning top prizes in prestigious international competitions across disciplines such as architecture and allied arts, cinema, dance, drama, literature, music and visual arts.

In its official communication dated Feb. 11, the NCCA cited Tanutan’s “sterling achievement” in the discipline of design, noting that his success amplifies the excellence of Filipino creativity on the global stage.

LCCB President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, lauded Tanutan for embodying the institution’s commitment to artistic excellence and innovation.

“We are immensely proud of Chad for bringing honor not only to La Consolacion College Bacolod but to the entire Filipino creative community,” Sr. Catungal said. “His achievement affirms the power of discipline, imagination and perseverance, and inspires our young artists to dream boldly and compete globally.”

Tanutan’s recognition forms part of the 2026 National Arts Month celebration themed “Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting,” pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 683.

LCCB’s School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Interior Design continues to produce graduates who excel in national and international platforms, reinforcing the college’s legacy of nurturing creative professionals who contribute meaningfully to culture and society.
