August 17, 2024 – La Consolacion College Bacolod Graduate School inaugurated Academic Year 2024-2025 with an orientation event at the Luisa Medel Little Theater, marking a significant milestone as new students now comprise more than half of the department’s student population. The surge in new enrollments highlights the growing appeal of the institution’s graduate programs.
The orientation, facilitated by graduate school administrators, warmly welcomed the influx of new students alongside returning students and faculty members, creating a strong sense of community as they embarked on their academic journey together.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Ramon Ponce de Leon, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, acknowledged
the presence of fellow administrators and emphasized the crucial role of education in the rapidly changing 21st-century landscape.
Sr. Flolyn Catungal, OSA, School President of La Consolacion College Bacolod, echoed these thoughts, encouraging students to embody the values of Prophetic Servant Leadership and reminding them of the spiritual support they will have throughout their pursuit of higher education.
Dr. Romela R. Aujero, VP for Administration and Alumni Relations, then introduced the school administrators and program heads for the academic year. Each program head took the opportunity to present their faculty members, allowing students to familiarize themselves with their instructors.
The orientation continued with breakout sessions designed for both faculty and students. During the faculty session, Dr. Rodjhun Navarro, VP for Research, Innovations, and Linkages, presented the general faculty requirements, particularly emphasizing the importance of research and industry experience. Faculty members also engaged in deliberations on the program goals, objectives, and learning outcomes, ensuring alignment with the institution’s mission and the evolving needs of the industry.
Meanwhile, students were introduced to the various student services available to them. The morning session concluded with a Mass of the Holy Spirit, uniting the community in reflection and prayer.
In the afternoon, participants deepened their understanding of the school’s Philosophy, Vision, Mission, Goals, and Program Learning Outcomes. Sr. Gerolinda C. Tingson, OSA, Program Head of the Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Management, provided a historical overview of the Graduate School, while Dr. Baniline
Jone Abantao, Program Head of the Doctor in Business Administration and Master of Business Administration programs, presented the Vision and Mission Statements and the Institutional Graduate Attributes.
The day culminated in the election of Graduate Student Council leaders, setting the stage for a dynamic and successful academic year at La Consolacion College Bacolod, driven by the enthusiasm and energy of its new and returning students. #nrm #rbn
