Inclusive Tourism Highlighted at Pasyar Negros 2025 Through Halal Tourism Talk

Inclusive tourism and accessibility took center stage on the second day of Pasyar Negros 2025: Bacolod Travel Expo as Leopoldo Peteros Jr., representative of Savoy Hotel Boracay Newcoast, delivered a talk on “Inclusive Tourism: Making Travel Accessible to All (Halal Tourism)” at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central Activity Center.

Peteros emphasized the growing importance of halal tourism as a pathway toward inclusivity in the Philippine travel industry, noting that destinations and hospitality establishments must adapt to the diverse cultural, religious, and lifestyle needs of travelers. He highlighted best practices in accommodation, food services, and guest relations that allow destinations to welcome Muslim travelers while maintaining cultural sensitivity and global standards.

The session was attended by tourism stakeholders, members of the public, and students of La Consolacion College Bacolod’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, particularly those specializing in Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE). The discussion underscored how inclusive tourism not only expands market reach but also strengthens the Philippines’ position as a globally competitive and socially responsible destination.

Faculty and administrators of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management led by Dean Dr. Christian Angelo B. Iturriaga, Program Head Ms. Florence Joy Soriano, and Dr. Lilia Militar, Program Head of the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, attended the session in support of the students’ applied learning experience.

The talk forms part of the continuing lecture series of Pasyar Negros 2025, which aims to bridge industry practice and academic training by exposing students to emerging tourism trends and real-world applications. As outlined in the event’s concept paper, the expo seeks to promote sustainable tourism, industry collaboration, and inclusive growth within the Negros Island Region.

Pasyar Negros 2025: Bacolod Travel Expo runs until December 12, featuring industry talks, cultural performances, networking activities, and exhibits showcasing local and national tourism offerings
