The Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino (KWF) chairperson visited La Consolacion College Bacolod’s Sentro ng Wika at Kultura on Friday, September 26, 2025, to recognize the school’s initiatives in advancing the national language.
Atty. Marites Barrios-Taran, KWF chair, was joined by Commissioners Carmelita C. Abdurahman and Angelica Salazar, and staff member Lourdes Hinampas during the visit. They were welcomed by LCCB President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, together with Dr. Edna D. Fregil, coordinator of the Sentro ng Wika at Kultura.
The KWF delegation expressed appreciation to the college for its strong commitment to cultivating Filipino language and culture through academic programs and cultural activities spearheaded by the Sentro.
Sr. Flolyn said the recognition from the KWF affirms the institution’s advocacy for language and culture. “The Sentro ng Wika at Kultura is our way of celebrating the Filipino identity and ensuring that our students embrace their heritage. We are honored by the visit of the KWF, which strengthens our resolve to keep promoting Filipino as the language of unity and nationhood,” she said.
