La Consolacion College Bacolod Celebrates Sacrament of Confirmation

Bacolod City – La Consolacion College Bacolod (LCCB) witnessed a momentous occasion last Saturday, January 11, 2025, as its students received the Sacrament of Confirmation at the San Sebastian Cathedral.

The solemn ceremony was presided over by Most Rev. Patricio A. Buzon, SDB, DD, Bishop of Bacolod, with Rev. Fr. Carl Anthony S. Quinto and Fr. Sandeep Ekka, SAC, as concelebrants. The celebration commenced with a procession of the confirmants, accompanied by their proud parents.

During the Mass, the first reading from John 5:14-21 emphasized the importance of prayer for sinners and recognizing the true Son of God. The Gospel reading from John 3:22-30 recounted the journey of Jesus and his disciples, highlighting the baptism of some disciples and a subsequent theological debate.

In his homily, Bishop Buzon playfully noted that the day marked the end of the Christmas season before the celebration of the Baptism of Jesus Christ. He then shared the inspiring story of Carlo Acutis, the first millennial saint, who dedicated his life to the Catholic faith and utilized technology to spread religious knowledge through a website documenting Eucharistic miracles worldwide. Bishop Buzon concluded by urging the students to be responsible consumers of social media and to embrace their roles as adolescents with maturity.

Following the homily, Sr. Irene M. Bancolo, OSA, DMEM, IBED Principal, formally declared the confirmation of the students from La Consolacion College Bacolod and La Consolacion School Gardenville. The ceremony proceeded with the lighting of candles and the administration of the Vows of Confirmation by Bishop Buzon. The anointing was then performed by both the Bishop, Fr. Quinto, and Fr. Ekka.

The celebration concluded with words of congratulations from Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, LCCB School President. She expressed gratitude to the parents and sponsors for their unwavering support in their children’s holistic development, commended the IBED faculty for their dedication, and facilitated a commemorative photo opportunity with the confirmants, parents, Bishop Buzon, Fr. Quinto, Fr. Ekka, the Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation, and school administrators and faculty.

This significant event marked a spiritual milestone for the LCCB students, strengthening their faith and preparing them for their journey as confirmed Catholics.
