The La Consolacion College Bacolod community gathered in prayer and reflection Friday, March 6, as the Center for Spirituality and Integral Transformation led the Via Crucis: Way of the Cross in the Augustinian Tradition, marking the beginning of the Lenten season.
Students, faculty, and personnel participated in the solemn devotion that retraced the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ on his journey to Calvary. Through prayer, scripture readings and dramatic tableaux, the community reflected on the spiritual meaning of Christ’s passion and its relevance to contemporary Christian life.

The Stations of the Cross were brought to life through moving tableaux performed by students from the Integrated Basic Education Department, the Night High School and the college, together with school personnel. The presentations were directed by Mr. Jhan Joseph Antonano, who guided the performers in depicting the 14 stations of Christ’s final journey.
Ms. Maria Girlie Abad served as the leader of the prayer, guiding participants through moments of contemplation and communal response. Mr. Rolando Gison led the responsory prayers, while Mr. Ricky Minerva accompanied the reflection with solemn piano music that deepened the prayerful atmosphere.
In her Lenten message, Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, president of La Consolacion College Bacolod, reminded the community that the Way of the Cross is not only a remembrance of Christ’s suffering but also an invitation to live out faith through compassion, humility and service.
She emphasized that Lent calls believers to walk with Christ in moments of hardship and to recognize the suffering of others in the world today.
The Via Crucis in the Augustinian tradition emphasizes reflection on Christ’s passion through the lens of interior conversion, encouraging the faithful to seek God’s presence in both suffering and hope.
The prayer gathering served as a spiritual reminder for the LCC Bacolod community that the Lenten season is a time of renewal—an opportunity to carry one’s own crosses with faith while journeying toward the promise of resurrection.
