LCC Bacolod IBED Faculty Equip Themselves for PAASCU Accreditation through Research Workshops

October 28, 2024 — Last week, while classes were suspended due to Typhoon Kristine, faculty members of the Integrated Basic Education Department (IBED) at La Consolacion College Bacolod took the opportunity to strengthen their research skills. A series of research writing workshops was conducted by the Research Office to support the department’s preparation for the updated accreditation standards of the Philippine Association of Accrediting Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU). Under these standards, Research is now an independent area of evaluation.

The workshops, led by LCCB Research Head Rejay Alvarado, focused on essential aspects of research writing. The first session covered framing research topics and crafting research problems, while the second session addressed research design. Teachers were grouped for collaborative learning, aligning with the school’s Research Agenda in Educational Leadership and Management, Curriculum and Instruction, Faculty Development, and Sustainable Development.

“The dedication of our teachers to advance their research capabilities ensures we are not only prepared for PAASCU standards but also actively contributing to the academic growth of our institution,” Mr. Alvarado noted.

Sr. Irene M. Bancolo, OSA, IBED Principal, requested the workshops to enhance the faculty’s research competencies. This academic year, Senior High School teachers have already completed three research papers, with a fourth in collaboration with the Graduate School and IBED administrators.

La Consolacion College Bacolod President, Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, praised the initiative: “Our commitment to academic excellence is evident in our faculty’s continuous learning. This endeavor reinforces our dedication to quality education and institutional growth.”

The four completed research studies are scheduled for institutional presentation on November 4
