La Consolacion College Bacolod is taking concrete steps toward establishing its internal guidelines and assessment framework for Creative Works following its participation in the “Global Pathways: Pioneering Creative Works Anchored on the SDGs for Internationalization” seminar-workshop held on October 27–28, 2025, in Iloilo City.
The two-day event, organized by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Offices (CHEDRO) VI and XVIII, in collaboration with the Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST), gathered higher education institutions in the Negros Island Region and Western Visayas to build the institutional blueprint for Creative Works Excellence in Higher Education.

The LCC Bacolod delegation was composed of Dr. Rodjhun B. Navarro, Vice President for Research, Innovations and Linkages; Mr. Rejay Y. Alvarado, Head of the Research Office; Mr. Felix Adrian D. Dalida, Quality Assurance Officer; and Dr. Christian Angelo B. Iturriaga, Dean of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.
The workshop, conducted under CHED Memorandum Order No. 55, Series of 2016, emphasized the integration of creative production and innovation into institutional research and development frameworks aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the ASEAN theme of inclusivity and sustainability.
LCC Bacolod’s participation marked the beginning of its internal initiative to institutionalize a Creative Works Office and design clear guidelines for recognizing, evaluating, and publishing creative outputs across its programs in Architecture, Fine Arts, Advertising, Digital Media Arts, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Culinary Arts, and Tourism Management.
According to Dr. Navarro, the college seeks to “build a culture that values creativity as both scholarship and innovation — where artistic expression becomes a legitimate contribution to research, sustainability, and social impact.”
Through its representation at the regional seminar, the college is set to craft its own Creative Works Manual, define institutional categories for creative output, and establish a peer-review process under the proposed Institutional Creative Works Evaluation Board (ICWEB).
These steps are envisioned to strengthen La Consolacion College Bacolod’s commitment to advancing creative scholarship, bridging academic disciplines with the creative industry, and aligning with CHED’s broader internationalization agenda for higher education.
