La Consolacion College Bacolod officially launched its institutional advocacy on sustainable waste management during an in-service training on the 10 Rs of Waste Management held Friday, Jan. 9, at the LCC Auditorium.
The program was co-organized by the Institutional Environmental Advocacy Program (IEAP), the National Service Training Program (NSTP), and the Academic Affairs Office, and was attended by teachers and employees from various academic and non-academic units of the college.
The training aimed to strengthen the institution’s commitment to environmental stewardship by promoting responsible consumption, waste reduction, and resource efficiency in everyday campus practices.
The session was led by Ms. Sheila Joan Bautista, who presented the expanded framework of the 10 Rs—Refuse, Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Refurbish, Remanufacture, Repurpose, Recycle and Recover—emphasizing that sustainability begins with conscious choices made before waste is generated.

In her message, Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, president of LCCB, highlighted the role of educators and school personnel as stewards of the environment and role models for learners.
“Environmental stewardship is not an additional task—it is a way of life that must be lived daily in our classrooms, offices and communities,” Catungal said. “As educators and employees of this institution, we shape values not only through what we teach, but through what we practice.”
She added that the 10 Rs serve as a practical guide for building a culture of care for creation that aligns with the college’s mission and values.
The activity forms part of LCCB’s continuing efforts to integrate sustainability into institutional policies, campus operations and educational programs, reinforcing the idea that small, consistent actions—when practiced collectively—can lead to lasting environmental impact.
