August 10, 2024—Sister Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, President of La Consolacion College Bacolod, delivered a heartfelt message to the parents of Senior High School students during the opening of the school year assembly held at the School Auditorium.
In her speech, Sister Flolyn expressed gratitude to the parents for entrusting the education and formation of their children to LCC Bacolod. She welcomed new families to the community, emphasizing the school’s unique approach to education, where Christian values are integrated into the curriculum.
Sister Flolyn highlighted the importance of holistic education, which aligns with the principles of St. Augustine, noting that the school aims to develop students not only intellectually but also in heart, mind, and spirit. She reminded parents of their critical role as partners in their children’s education, urging them to embrace their responsibilities with love, faith, wisdom, and forgiveness.
Quoting Pope Francis, Sister Flolyn underscored the significance of family in the evangelization process and encouraged parents to lead by example. She introduced the digital Augustinian Lectio Divina as a tool for family formation, reinforcing the importance of prayer and unity in the home.
Concluding her message, Sister Flolyn called for open communication between parents and the school, reaffirming their shared goal of nurturing students to become the best versions of themselves. She left the parents with a reminder of Proverbs 22:6, urging them to guide their children in the ways of faith.
“Thank you, and may God bless us all as we journey together through this school year,” she said. The assembly set the tone for a collaborative and faith-centered school year at LCC Bacolod.
