LCC Bacolod prexi calls for unity, sportsmanship at opening of 2026 Intramurals

La Consolacion College Bacolod President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, called on students to embrace unity, discipline and sportsmanship as the college officially opened its 2026 Sports Intramurals on Monday, March 9.

In her opening message during the ceremony, Catungal emphasized that the annual intramurals are more than a competition of athletic ability, but a formation experience that reflects the institution’s values of community, perseverance and respect.

“Sports teach us discipline, teamwork and resilience,” Catungal said. “Beyond winning and losing, the intramurals remind us that we are one LCC community, supporting one another and celebrating the talents and gifts that God has given each of us.”

The opening ceremony began with the parade of departments representing the Integrated School, Senior High School, School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Interior Design, School of Business and Information Technology, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and School of Sciences, Liberal Arts, and TYeacher Education.

The program also included the hosting of departmental banners, a torch lighting ceremony, and the oath of amateurism, underscoring the spirit of fair play and integrity in sports.

The official opening of the intramurals was led by Mr. Anthony G. Deocades, MAGC, marking the start of several days of athletic and recreational competitions among the college’s academic units.

Following the ceremony, students showcased their skills through a preschool demonstration and a taekwondo exhibition, while competitions began with board games such as Scrabble and chess held at the library.

Intramurals activities will continue from March 10 to 13 with sporting events including basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, darts, billiards and swimming. The ball games championship and awarding ceremonies will be held on March 14, recognizing both event winners and the overall intramurals champion for Academic Year 2025–2026.

Organized by the Supreme Student Government, the annual intramurals aim to promote physical wellness, camaraderie and school pride among the LCCian community.
