February 11, 2026 — A three-month teaching internship in Thailand has been declared a success as nine teacher education students from La Consolacion College Bacolod completed its pilot implementation of the Student Internship Abroad Program (SIAP) at Saint Joseph Nakae School.
The pioneering batch of interns began the program three months ago as part of LCCB’s initiative to internationalize its Teacher Education curriculum and provide students with global classroom exposure.
The travel and deployment of the interns were made possible through financial support from alumni and parents’ associations, which augmented funding advanced by the college. In Thailand, Saint Joseph Nakae School provided accommodation, transportation, meals, school supplies and a monthly allowance of 6,000 baht for each intern.
During their stay, the interns were assigned to teach English classes to elementary pupils. They also conducted after-school tutorial sessions, which allowed them to further enhance their instructional skills while earning additional income.
In a Facebook post, Saint Joseph Nakae School praised the interns’ performance.
“Throughout their stay, the interns demonstrated unwavering dedication, professional competence and genuine compassion in their teaching and community engagement,” the school wrote. “Beyond lesson plans and classrooms, they shared stories, cultures and dreams — enriching both students and colleagues with the true spirit of Catholic education rooted in service and love.”

The post described the collaboration as a model of meaningful internationalization that blends academic excellence, cultural exchange and Catholic values in forming globally responsible educators.
Saint Joseph Nakae School also expressed gratitude to LCC Bacolod’s administration and to the nine participants for their “courage, perseverance and generosity” throughout the program.
Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, President of LCC Bacolod and initiator of the SIAP for Teacher Education students, said the program affirms the college’s mission of forming globally competent and morally grounded educators.
“This pilot implementation proves that our students can thrive in international settings,” Sr. Flolyn said. “We envisioned this program to give our future teachers real global exposure anchored in Catholic values. We are grateful to our partners in Thailand, to our alumni and parents who supported this initiative, and most especially to our nine interns who carried the name of LCC with excellence and integrity.”
The nine interns are Loren G. Billiones, Ma. Christine V. Entapan, Blue Jace M. Gulmatico, Jade Martin R. Gustilo, Jonah P. Lumanog, Christine V. Maguad, Lory Gane S. Regala, Reenah Nicole B. Rivera and Alycone Somet T. Tan.
The successful completion of the internship marks a milestone for LCC Bacolod’s Teacher Education Department as it continues to expand international academic partnerships.
