Three outstanding students from La Consolacion College Bacolod—April Ann Obando, Joshua Gayares, and Laurice Angelo—have been awarded prestigious scholarship grants from the Asian Festival Association, in collaboration with the Korea-Philippines Festival, Cultural, and Educational Association. These scholarships were officially announced on October 23, following a rigorous selection process that included document screening and final interviews conducted by six judges. LCC Bacolod proudly stands out with the highest number of scholars among the nine recipients selected from various higher education institutions nationwide.
Mr. Junghwan Kim, Chairman of the Asian Festival Association, shared insights into the selection process. “Six judges conducted final Zoom interviews with students who passed the first round of document screening. Scholarships will now be distributed after the announcement of successful candidates.”
The Korea-Philippines Festival Culture Exchange Association aims to support students who show dedication to festivals, tourism, and other cultural fields, with scholarships renewable each school year. Applicants are expected to be bilingual and have experience in cultural events, aligning with the organization’s mission to nurture future leaders in cultural content and tourism.
Rodjhun Navarro, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Linkages at LCC Bacolod, endorsed the scholars. He expressed his pride in the achievements of the LCC Bacolod students, stating, “I am incredibly proud that our students have excelled and that LCC Bacolod has produced the most number of scholars in this prestigious selection.”
The 2024 Asian Festival Association Scholarships awarded include P20,000 each to three A-grade scholars and P10,000 each to six B-grade scholars, amounting to a total of P120,000 in support for these deserving students.
