VICTORIAS CITY, Philippines — An Industrial Design alumnus of La Consolacion College Bacolod continues to bring pride to the institution and the country after earning both national and local recognition for excellence in design.
Chad Gabrielle Tanutan, who won the Top Designer Award in the Men’s Shoe Individual Category at the 13th International Footwear Design Competition, was named a recipient of the 2026 Ani ng Dangal Award by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
Adding to his accolades, Tanutan was also honored as a Malihaw Awardee by the City Government of Victorias during the Kadalag-an Festival 2026, recognizing outstanding Victoriasanons who have excelled in their respective fields and serve as role models in their communities.
In a brief message, Tanutan expressed gratitude for the recognition and shared the competitiveness of the selection process.
“Thank you. It’s the Malihaw Awards—around eight or nine of us were nominated, and only two were chosen as winners,” he said.
LCCB President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, commended Tanutan’s achievement, describing it as a reflection of both talent and character.
“We are proud of Chad for exemplifying what it means to be an LCCian—creative, grounded and globally competitive,” Sr. Catungal said. “His achievements remind us that excellence, when rooted in humility and purpose, can inspire communities and uplift our nation.”
The Malihaw Awards, a long-standing recognition program in Victorias City, honors individuals whose achievements contribute to community development and inspire others to pursue excellence. Meanwhile, the Ani ng Dangal Award remains one of the country’s highest recognitions for artists who have garnered international honors.
Tanutan’s dual recognition highlights the growing impact of LCCB’s School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Interior Design in producing graduates who excel on both global and local stages.
