LCC BACOLOD STUDENT NAMED FINALIST IN 2026 OUTSTANDING STUDENT LEADERS OF THE PHILIPPINES

La Consolacion College Bacolod student April Ann Obando has been named one of the finalists in the 2026 Outstanding Student Leaders of the Philippines by Transforming Advocates and Champions Inc., or TRAC Philippines.

Obando was recognized for her leadership, service, academic achievement and commitment to creating a positive impact in school and community life. Her selection places her among student leaders from across the country who will advance to the final stage of the national search.

Anthony Deocades, OIC of Student Affairs and Services, said Obando’s recognition affirms the importance of student formation beyond academics.

“April’s achievement shows what happens when students are given spaces to lead, serve and grow with purpose,” Deocades said. “This recognition is not only a personal milestone for her, but also a reminder to our student leaders that their initiatives, values and service can make a difference beyond the campus.”

As part of the final stage, finalists are invited to participate in character rebuilding, leadership reformation, final interview and deliberation activities from Sept. 28 to 30 at Baguio Teachers Camp in Baguio City. The announcement of winners and the Top 10 will be held Oct. 3 during the TRAC Convention 2026 at Parkview Hotel in Baguio City.

TRAC Philippines said reaching the finalist stage is already a “remarkable achievement” and a testament to the nominees’ dedication, leadership, service and commitment to making a positive difference.

LCC Bacolod President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, congratulated Obando and said the recognition reflects the school’s mission of forming students who use their gifts in the service of others.

“We are proud of April Ann for bringing the values of an LCCian to a national platform,” Catungal said. “Leadership is not only about recognition; it is about the courage to serve, the humility to listen and the commitment to help build a better community. May her journey inspire more students to lead with faith, excellence and compassion.”

Obando’s finalist placement underscores LCC Bacolod’s continuing efforts to form student leaders who are academically prepared, socially engaged and grounded in Augustinian values.

“Whatever the final result may be, April has already made the LCC Bacolod community proud,” Deocadiz said. “Her journey reminds us that student leadership begins with service and grows through consistency, character and heart.”
