LCC BACOLOD PRESIDENT LEADS GENDER SENSITIVITY TALK FOR COLLEGE FACULTY

La Consolacion College Bacolod President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, led a talk on gender sensitivity for college faculty members on July 9, 2026, at the school Auditorium.

The session centered on the feminist principles of equality, mutuality, partnership, respect, inclusivity and “power within,” encouraging faculty members to build learning spaces where dignity and respect for persons are upheld.

Catungal emphasized that gender sensitivity begins with recognizing the worth of every person and fostering relationships anchored on mutual respect.

“Gender sensitivity is not only about awareness, but about the way we treat one another in our classrooms, offices and communities,” Catungal said. “When we recognize the dignity and gifts of each person, we help build a culture where everyone is respected, included and empowered.”

The talk formed part of the college’s continuing efforts to strengthen values-based education and promote a more inclusive, respectful and responsive academic environment.

Catungal also encouraged faculty members to model openness, understanding and acceptance in their daily interactions with students and colleagues.

“As educators, we are called to form not only competent learners, but persons who value others as equals,” she said. “That begins with us.”
