LCC BACOLOD FACULTY ATTEND COAST GUARD SEMINAR ON BASIC CAMPUS SECURITY

College faculty members of La Consolacion College Bacolod attended a seminar on basic campus security conducted by the Philippine Coast Guard on Thursday, July 9, at the Auditorium.

The seminar was held as schools across the country strengthened security awareness following recent incidents of campus violence and threats that prompted class disruptions and suspensions in several areas.

Resource speakers from the Philippine Coast Guard included CPO Renante A. Palabrica PCG and PO3 Niel L. Macoy PCG of the Coast Guard K-9 Unit; PO1 Jimmel E. Alison PCG of the Coast Guard Intelligence Group-Southern Visayas; and PO1 Juvy P. Belnas PCG of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit-Southern Visayas.

The session introduced faculty members to basic security awareness, threat identification, emergency response coordination and the role of school personnel in maintaining a safe campus environment.

Commodore Christine Pauline Bergaño, an alumna of LCC Bacolod, helped make the seminar possible through her coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard.

“Campus security is a shared responsibility,” Bergaño said. “Faculty members are among the first persons students look to in times of uncertainty, and giving them basic security awareness strengthens the school’s ability to respond calmly, properly and in coordination with authorities.”

School officials said the activity forms part of LCC Bacolod’s continuing efforts to promote campus safety, preparedness and vigilance among its personnel.

The seminar also underscored the need for schools to review security protocols, strengthen coordination with law enforcement agencies and build a culture of alertness without creating fear among students and employees.
