FIRST FRIDAY MASS CALLS LCC BACOLODCOMMUNITY TO LIVE FAITH THROUGH DAILY CHOICE

Members of the La Consolacion College Bacolod community were reminded that Christian faith is lived through daily choices, sacrifice and service during the First Friday Mass celebrated Aug. 7 at the school Quadrangle.

Fr. Leo Ricardo Ma. Luanzon, MMHC, presided over the Eucharistic celebration, which gathered students, teachers, personnel and parents from across the school community.

The Gospel reading for the day, Matthew 16:24-28, recounts Jesus’ call to his disciples to deny themselves, take up their cross and follow him — a message that places discipleship in the context of commitment, sacrifice and faithfulness.

The passage also challenges believers to examine the things they value, asking what a person gains by possessing the whole world while losing what is truly essential.

The message resonated with LCC Bacolod’s continuing emphasis on holistic formation, where education is understood not only as academic preparation but also as the development of character, responsibility and a life grounded in faith.

The participation of parents alongside students, faculty and personnel reflected the shared role of the home and the school in forming young people.

The Mass was sponsored by the Integrated Basic Education Department and organized by the Center for Spirituality and Integral Transformation.

First Friday Eucharistic celebrations are among the school’s regular spiritual formation activities and provide members of the community an opportunity to step away from their academic and professional routines for prayer and reflection.

For LCC Bacolod, the celebration also reaffirmed its Augustinian-Marian identity and its mission to form individuals who translate faith into service to others.
