In a commendable display of environmental responsibility, the La Consolacion College Bacolod’s National Service Training Program (NSTP) and Institutional Environmental Advocacy Program (IEAP) recently organized the first batch of Mangrove Growing and Coastal Clean-up Activity. This event took place on November 18, 2023, at LCCB’s adopted mangrove site at Sitio Can-itom, Brgy. Sampinit, Bago City.
The event witnessed active participation from NSTP students and advisers from sections Chastity, Compassion, Excellence, and Faith. A huge turnout of nearly 200 student participants enthusiastically planted a total of 500 mangrove seedlings. Adding to the fervor, personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection contributed to the cause by planting an additional 100 mangrove seedlings.
This first batch sets the stage for two more batches scheduled on November 25 and December 2, aiming to plant a grand total of 2000 mangroves for the first semester. The LCCB NSTP and IEAP extend special thanks to the City Environment Management Office of the City of Bago for their sustained partnership and support.
It’s worth noting that LCCB, through its IEAP, has been diligently maintaining the mangrove site since 2019. This initiative not only underscores the institution’s commitment to environmental sustainability but also serves as a testament to the power of community collaboration in fostering a healthier, greener future. #lccbNSTP #lccbIEAP #GreenerLCCB #LCCBNSTPBatchHiraya #LCCianNationBuilders
