In an amazing display of artistic prowess, La Consolacion College Bacolod’s Senior High School Arts & Design students triumphed at the 8th VMC Inter-School Art Contest 2023. Held at the Acacia Hotel Bacolod and organized by the Victorias Milling Company (VMC), the event brought together 19 elementary and 42 high school semi-finalists from various schools across Negros Occidental.
The LCCB SHS contingent, led by the dynamic duo of Jhodie May Salomon and Erin Ysabelle Dosayla, emerged as the stars of the competition. Jhodie May Salomon, a talented artist from Grade 12 – St. Benedict, secured the Champion title, showcasing her exceptional skills and creativity. Following closely, Erin Ysabelle Dosayla from Grade 12 – St. Cecilia claimed the 2nd Runner-up position, adding another feather to the cap of La Consolacion College Bacolod.
The achievements didn’t stop there, as Bear Jay Bermeo from Grade 11 – St. Bernward received a well-deserved Consolation Prize for his remarkable artwork.
Supporting their peers were other participants from LCCB SHS, namely Ricardo Regalia III (Grade 12 – St. Benedict), Roshan Langreo (Grade 12 – St. Cecilia), and Audrey Kaye Sarsona (Grade 12 – St. Cecilia). These budding artists, under the guidance of Mrs. Mary Nelyn Guilaran, Arts & Design Track Chair, and Mr. Rejay Alvarado, LCCB SHS Academic Coordinator, showcased not only their talent but also the commitment and dedication instilled by their mentors.
The 8th VMC Inter-School Art Contest provided a platform for young artists to express themselves and compete at an inter-school level. La Consolacion College Bacolod’s success at the event not only highlights the individual achievements of its students but also underscores the school’s commitment to fostering creativity and excellence in the arts.
