LCCB’s Institutional Environmental Advocacy Program Joins 31st Provincial Environment Month Celebration Opening Ceremony

The LCCB Institutional Environmental Advocacy Program (IEAP) took part in the opening ceremony of the 31st Provincial Environment Month Celebration, hosted by the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) of Negros Occidental. The event, which had the theme “Solutions to Plastic Pollution,” was held at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central, and witnessed the participation of various environmental enthusiasts and stakeholders from government agencies, non-government organizations and the academe.

The school was represented by Mr. Adryan J. Valiao, IEAP Coordinator. He was joined by student representatives from various school organizations, including the incoming officers of the LCCB Supreme Student Government, members of the LCCB Senior High Student Government, the LCCB Corps of Student Ambassadors, and The Ripples staff. Their active involvement exemplified the proactive engagement of the student body in fostering environmental awareness and sustainability within the LCCB community.

The opening ceremony commenced with keynote messages focusing on the theme of “Solutions to Plastic Pollution.” Esteemed speakers shed light on the urgent need for concerted efforts to combat plastic pollution and emphasized the importance of individual and collective actions in addressing this global environmental challenge. Their inspiring words served as a call to action, encouraging attendees to take responsibility and contribute to the preservation of our planet.

The highlight of the event was the opening of a photo exhibit, organized by Oceana PH, which showcased the significance of mangroves. Mangroves are vital ecosystems that provide habitat for a diverse range of marine species, protect coastlines from erosion, and act as a natural carbon sink. The exhibition aimed to educate the public about the crucial role of mangroves in maintaining ecological balance and fostering sustainable development.

By participating in the Provincial Environment Month Celebration, the LCCB IEAP and the student representatives demonstrated their commitment to environmental advocacy and sustainability. They contributed to raising awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic pollution and the importance of preserving mangroves.

Mr. Adryan J. Valiao, the LCCB IEAP Coordinator, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to engage in such a significant event. He stated, “Our participation in the Provincial Environment Month Celebration is a testament to our school’s dedication to environmental stewardship. By working together, we can find solutions to plastic pollution and protect the invaluable resources that nature has bestowed upon us.”

The LCCB IEAP’s involvement in this event serves as an inspiration to other educational institutions and communities. It highlights the power of collective action and the potential for positive change when individuals and organizations come together to address pressing environmental issues.

As we navigate the challenges posed by plastic pollution, it is crucial for all of us to be proactive in adopting sustainable practices and promoting responsible consumption. Through events like the Provincial Environment Month Celebration, we can raise awareness, foster dialogue, and inspire individuals to make environmentally conscious choices in their daily lives.

The LCCB IEAP and its partners are committed to continuing their efforts to protect the environment and advocate for sustainable practices. By engaging in such initiatives, we can pave the way for a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future for generations to come. #lccbIEAP #GreenerLCCB
