La Consolacion College Bacolod college faculty members attended a talk on responsible artificial intelligence use for work and school, led by alumnus Engr. Antonio Derramas Jr., a technology consultant and manager at DXC Technology.
The session, titled “Conversational AI for Work and School,” focused on the ethical use of AI tools, prompt engineering and practical ways faculty members can integrate conversational AI into teaching, research and administrative work.

Derramas discussed key considerations in using AI responsibly, including accuracy, accountability, data privacy, academic integrity and the need for human judgment in evaluating AI-generated outputs.
He also introduced faculty members to prompt engineering techniques, including the COSTAR framework, which helps users craft clearer and more purposeful prompts by defining context, objective, style, tone, audience and response format.
LCC Bacolod President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, said the session reflects the institution’s commitment to helping educators adapt to emerging technologies while remaining guided by ethics and mission.
“Artificial intelligence offers many possibilities for improving the way we work and teach, but it must always be used with responsibility, discernment and respect for human dignity,” Catungal said. “As educators, our task is not only to learn new tools, but to guide our students in using them wisely and ethically.”
The talk also emphasized that AI should support, not replace, critical thinking, creativity and professional judgment.
Derramas encouraged faculty members to view conversational AI as a productivity and learning tool, while remaining mindful of its limitations and risks.
The activity is part of LCC Bacolod’s continuing efforts to strengthen faculty capacity in digital transformation and responsible technology adoption.
