AUGUSTINIAN SPIRITUALITY GUIDES LCC BACOLOD’S ACADEMIC YEAR PREPARATIONS

La Consolacion College Bacolod faculty members and personnel began preparations for the opening of the academic year with a recollection grounded in Augustinian spirituality and centered on personal renewal, community and service.

The recollection, titled “Peregrinatio: Journeying with St. Augustine Towards Integral Transformation in Christ,” was facilitated by the Rev. Fr. Dominic M. Derramas. The program presented Christian life as a pilgrimage of continuing conversion, guided by grace and the desire to rest in God.

The sessions focused on self-awareness, repentance, friendship and grace. Participants joined talks, group sharing, personal reflection and team-building activities designed to deepen their understanding of themselves and their responsibilities within the LCC Bacolod community.

“Augustinian spirituality invites us to enter into our hearts, recognize our need for conversion and journey together toward God,” Derramas said. “As educators and personnel, we are called to allow grace to shape the way we work, serve and relate with one another.”

The recollection also linked the institution’s core values with the participants’ roles in carrying out LCC Bacolod’s educational mission. Activities encouraged them to reflect on Christian friendship, responsible stewardship, service and the presence of Christ in every person.

LCC Bacolod President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, said the activity helped prepare employees not only for the demands of the new academic year but also for their mission as formators.

“Our preparation for the academic year must go beyond systems, schedules and classroom readiness,” Catungal said. “We must also prepare our hearts so that we may serve our students and one another with faith, compassion and a renewed sense of mission.”

The recollection culminated in a Mass and ceremonial commissioning, during which faculty members and personnel were sent forth to fulfill their responsibilities in the institution with renewed commitment.

The activity was organized by the Center for Spirituality and Integral Transformation and the Human Resource Development Office.
