LCC Bacolod and Virlanie Faith Partner for Service-Learning, Community Support

La Consolacion College Bacolod and Virlanie Foundation signed a Memorandum of Agreement on February 27, 2024, to collaborate on projects that support the well-being of disadvantaged children in the community.

Virlanie Faith is a non-profit organization known for its programs that help children grow into responsible citizens. LCCB, through its president, Sr. Joan Brigida Corazon S. Infante, entered into this agreement to provide its students with opportunities to develop their character and spirituality through volunteer work.

Under the agreement, LCCB will organize service-learning projects for its students, including catechism, tutorials, tech-voc skills training, and gift-giving activities. The college will also recommend senior high school students for work immersion programs at Virlanie’s office and community service operations.

LCCB faculty and staff will also have opportunities to participate in outreach activities for Virlanie beneficiaries. Additionally, the college will offer a 30% discount on tuition fees for Virlanie-referred students enrolling in its night high school program, with the remaining amount potentially covered by other sponsors.

Virlanie, in turn, will provide orientation and training to LCCB volunteers, conduct seminars on social issues concerning disadvantaged children, and offer progress reports to track the impact of volunteer activities. Virlanie will also supervise the implementation of these activities and evaluate their effectiveness.

The agreement is effective for three years and may be renewed upon mutual consent.

The MOA signing ceremony was attended by LCCB president Sr. Joan Brigida Corazon S. Infante, VF executive director Adelita Lemay, and representatives from both organizations, including French humanitarian Dominique Lemay, founder of Virlanie Foundation.

The signing ceremony was also graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Atty. Charles Mangga, Human Resource Manager of Virlanie Faith; Dr. Romela Aujero, VP for Personnel and Alumni Relations; Maria Girlie Abad, Head of the Center for Spiritual Formation, Dione Mae Prajes and Alvin Ibañez, Coordinator of Service Learning and Night High School Programs at La Consolacion College Bacolod.
