TOURISM STUDENT NAMED WHOS FINALIST, WINS SDG ADVOCACY AWARD

A Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management student of La Consolacion College Bacolod was recognized among the city’s outstanding youth leaders after being named a finalist in the prestigious JCI Bacolod search and earning a special award during ceremonies held April 11.

Katrina Angelica M. Braganza was named one of the Top 10 Finalists in the 55th The Outstanding Students (THOS) Awards of JCI Bacolod Inc., a long-running program that honors student leaders for excellence in academics, leadership and community involvement.

Braganza also received the Best SDG Advocacy Video Award, recognizing her efforts in promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through creative communication and social engagement.

The recognition was conferred during rites at the Bacolod City Government Center, gathering student leaders, educators and civic organizations in celebration of this year’s theme, “55 Years of Excellence: Leading the Change, Sustaining the Legacy.”

LCCB President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, lauded Braganza’s achievement, emphasizing the role of young leaders in shaping communities.

“Katrina’s recognition reflects the kind of leadership we hope to form at LCC Bacolod—one that is grounded in excellence, guided by values, and committed to making a meaningful difference in society,” Catungal said. “Her work in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals shows how our students can lead change with purpose and creativity.”

Braganza’s recognition adds to LCC Bacolod’s continuing tradition of producing student leaders who excel not only academically but also in civic engagement and advocacy.

The JCI Bacolod THOS Awards is one of the most respected youth recognition programs in the city, highlighting individuals who demonstrate outstanding achievements and a strong commitment to community development.
