A student of La Consolacion College Bacolod has been recognized on the international stage after receiving a scholarship grant from the Asia Festival Association (AFA) and the Korea-Philippines Festival and Cultural Exchange Association (KPFCEA).
April Ann C. Obando was awarded the Certificate of Scholarship Grant during a ceremony held April 16, 2026 in Bacolod City, led by AFA and KPFCEA officials Prof. Dr. Junghwan Kim and Mrs. Sandra Sycip.
The scholarship recognizes outstanding dedication and excellence in promoting festival arts, culture, and cultural exchange. Obando was among a select group of nine scholars chosen from 39 applicants across the Philippines through a rigorous screening process, including document evaluation and interviews.
Under the 2025 AFA Scholarship Program, top-performing scholars received financial grants, with A-grade awardees granted 20,000 pesos each.
LCCB President Sr. Flolyn S. Catungal, OSA, lauded Obando’s achievement, emphasizing its significance to the institution’s commitment to cultural education and global engagement.
“We are proud of April for bringing honor to LCC Bacolod through her passion for the arts and culture,” Catungal said. “This recognition affirms the importance of nurturing talents that contribute to cultural exchange and global understanding. May this inspire more LCCians to pursue excellence and represent our community on the international stage.”
The recognition highlights LCC Bacolod’s continued presence in international academic and cultural initiatives, reinforcing its role in developing students who actively contribute to cultural dialogue and creative industries.
