Fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Interior Design students from La Consolacion College Bacolod strengthened their design storytelling skills through an educational site visit and interior photography exploration at Dwellü, guided by instructor IDr. Millen Salbibia.
The activity focused on immersing students in real-world interior styling and showroom environments, allowing them to document curated spaces while applying principles of lighting, composition, and visual narrative. Students explored how furniture arrangements, textures, and lighting conditions interact to create cohesive interior experiences.
During the visit, students observed showroom layouts and practiced capturing a range of interior shots—from wide-angle perspectives to detail-focused compositions—enhancing their ability to communicate design concepts through photography. The exercise emphasized the role of visual documentation in presenting design ideas effectively, a critical skill in both academic and professional practice.
The exposure to an actual design showroom enabled students to better understand how theoretical principles translate into tangible, market-ready interiors. It also highlighted the importance of staging and presentation in influencing how spaces are perceived by clients and users.
Dr. Vincent Raymund Alovera, Dean of the School of Architecture, Fine Arts, and Interior Design, underscored the value of such experiential learning activities.
“Exposure to real design environments allows our students to bridge the gap between theory and practice,” Alovera said. “Interior photography, in particular, trains them to see spaces not just as designers, but as storytellers who can communicate the intent and experience of a space.”
The visit forms part of the program’s continuing efforts to equip future interior designers with industry-relevant skills, reinforcing the importance of observation, documentation, and creative interpretation in professional design practice.
